It has been some time since I wrote anything here, be that as it may, I refuse to feel guilty, it is after all, my blog.
So Had a knee surgery on May 21, 2014. The doc said there is arthritis and were small tears in the cartilage or meniscus, I think. Anyhow it has been almost 3 months, I need for that to be behind me.
I have signed up and done some sprint triathlons, and fared ok, nothing fast, but I am not fast today, yesterday or tomorrow. I will never be fast. I like to be able to go the distance. I thus have to significant dates pending: September 14th Half Iron man local so it should be logistically easy. Physically it will be hot and tough. This is a step toward my ultimate goal of Ironman Texas May 24, 2015.
I believe that ultimate and distance running have taken a toll. I have retired from Ultimate for now. Perhaps in anotehr place and time where the resulting pain is not so great, I will walk those fields again. For now however, I wish to do Ironman, to have that moniker, that none can ever take. 140.6 miles, 2.4 miles of swimming, 112Miles of cycling, and 26.2 miles of running.
Rewind to the here and now those is a half iron distance race which is arguably the longest race I have ever done. I suspect it should feel like a marathon, in that the swim is a warm-up, the ride is like the first half of a marathon and the last half marathon is exactly like the last half of a marathon.
My guess at time is 50 mins to swim 5 transition, 3:20 to cycle and 2:30 to run. so realistically 7 hours. I suspect I will learn a few things to say the least.
The company that is putting the event on is small so there will be little fanfare about the whole thing, just me and the distance.
